Delete your account
Applies to the FreeUp Photos Android app (package photos.freeup).
The short version
- In the app: Settings → Delete account. It erases every file your account holds on the server and then deletes the account itself.
- Photos still on your phone are not touched. Only the server copy goes.
- No app to hand? Write to support@freeup.photos from the address you signed in with.
- A paid plan is not cancelled by this - subscriptions live in Google Play, see below.
Deleting it from the app
- Open FreeUp Photos and go to Settings (the gear icon).
- Scroll to the bottom, to Delete account.
- Confirm. Your phone will ask for its fingerprint, PIN or pattern first.
- The app erases the files from the server, then releases the account. You are signed out when it finishes.
Signing in again afterwards creates a brand new, empty account - it does not bring the old one back.
Asking us instead
Send a message to support@freeup.photos from the e-mail address
you use to sign in, saying you want the account deleted. We complete these within
30 days, usually far sooner, and reply when it is done.
What is deleted
- Every photo and video your account holds on the storage server.
- Archived earlier versions of overwritten files.
- Your account record: the Google account identifier, the e-mail address, the storage account assigned to you, and the record of which plan you were on.
The storage account itself is taken out of service and wiped before anyone else can be given it.
Ordinary server backups and billing records may keep traces for a short while afterwards -
billing records we are legally required to keep for as long as tax law says, and nothing in them
contains your photos.
Your subscription
Storage plans are sold through Google Play, and only Google can end one. Deleting your account
here does not cancel it, so cancel it yourself first:
Google Play → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions.
Otherwise the plan keeps renewing with nothing attached to it.
